Chief Minister Mr. Baghel attends ‘Chherchhera Johar’ programme, On this mega festival of ‘Ann Daan’,
Raipur. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel attended ‘Chherchera Johar’ programme’ organized at Dudhadhari Math in capital city Raipur today. Mr. Baghel affectionately said ‘Mahu Chherchera Mange Bar Aaye he’ (I have also come to collect ‘chherchhera’) as he visited nearby houses with the art troupe asking for chherchhera donations.

Chief Minister reached the Dudhadhari temple and prayed at Sankat Mochan Hanuman Mandir, Balaji temple, Ram Dardar and wished for welfare, happiness and prosperity for the people of the state. Chief Minister received paddy and a cheque of 1.25 lakhs as donation of ‘chherchhera’ from Mahant Rajeshri Ramsundar Das. Chief Minister collected donation of ‘Chherchera Punni’ from many houses around the temples with Panthi and Raut Dance troupe wearing colorful traditional attires. Chief Minister said out loud ‘Chherchera Maayi Kothi Ke Dhan La Her Hera’ in front of the houses. Mahant Rajeshri Ramsundar Das and saints donated paddy to Chief Minister while chanting in the temple premise. Chief Minister kept food donation in Ramkothi of the ‘Math’. Chief Minister donated the fund and donation for malnutrition eradication under Suposhan Abhiyan. Malnutrition is the biggest problem in the state, he said. Collective coordinated efforts of society, citizens and government is required to make the state free from malnutrition.

In the programme, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel extended hearty greetings of Chherchera. He said that this festival brings happiness for everyone. When the farmers of the state take paddy into the farm, it is the initial process of paddy farming. Chherchera festival shows the dedication of people, especially farmers, towards their livelihood. Chherchera festival is celebrated on ‘Poush Poornima’ Day. On this day, children, youth, women groups go to houses in the neighbourhood and collect paddy donation and kept it in Ramkothi and make their schedule for the whole year, purchase materials for sports and attend festive programmes.
Mr. Baghel said that according to mythological belief, on this particular day, Lord Shiva had taken donation from Goddess Annapurna and today is ‘Shakabhari Jayanti’. Therefore, along with crops people donate fruits and vegetables too. Mr. Baghel said that on this day King of Ratanpur returned to Ratanpur after six months. He donated goods to his people. In the ‘Chherchera Punni’ program, Padmashri awardee Ms. Mamta Chandrakar presented Chhattisgarhi state song ‘Arpa Pairi Ke Dhar’. Various other melodious songs were also performed in the programme.
On this occasion Agriculture Minister Ravindra Choubey, Tribal Minister Dr. Premshai Singh, Women and Child Development Minister Anila Bhediya, Urban Administration Minister Shiv Daharia, MP Mrs. Chhaya Verma, MLA Dhanendra Sahu, Kuldeep Juneja, Vikash Upadhyay, Mayor of Raipur Municipal Corporation Aizaz Dhebar, Chairman Pramod Dubey, Advisor of Chief Minister Pradeep Sharma and Vinod Sharma, Principal Chief Secretary Chief Minister Secretariat Gaurav Dwivedi along with senior officers of Cultural Department, Public Relation Department, Folk artists and a large number of citizens were present.
